Legend has it the Low Sneak began with a complaint: Rick Owens thought sneakers were boring. His answer was to take the familiar shape of a Chuck Taylor-style trainer and push it somewhere stranger, adding oversized soles and an exaggerated shape — a tongue-in-cheek parody of classic skate and athletic shoes. Two decades later, the Ramones remains one of those rare shoes that can be identified from all the way across the street.
