The Papillon butterfly is Needles’ defining mark — a small emblem with a surprisingly big backstory. Keizo Shimizu lifted it from Steve McQueen’s tattoo in Papillon, a film built around themes of freedom, resilience and breaking out of confinement. That symbolism stuck, and the butterfly became Needles’ shorthand for individuality and transformation.
